Sr Research Specialist
Dow PSP&H Research & Development
Dr. Arjita Kulshreshtha is a Senior Research Specialist in Dow’s Packaging, Specialty Plastics and Hydrocarbons (PSP&H) Research & Development organization. She develops computational, data-driven, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools that enhance manufacturing reliability, product quality, and efficiency across polyethylene and hydrocarbons processes.
Since joining Dow in 2022 through the Rotational Assignment Program, Arjita has leveraged her Ph.D. expertise in materials science and multiscale modeling to pioneer approaches that integrate data science/AI, and fundamental modeling to accelerate materials innovation and translate discoveries into scalable manufacturing solutions. Her work has delivered predictive models, molecular simulation frameworks for property prediction, and generative AI–based troubleshooting tools that reduce experimental effort and expedite decision-making across global businesses. She also contributes actively to recruiting and mentoring data science talent and supports internship initiatives focused on process reliability improvement.
Beyond her technical contributions, Arjita is actively engaged in professional development at Dow. She has served as a focal point for early-career researcher organizations, led technical colloquia, and organized mentoring and networking programs that connect emerging talent with senior leaders across sites. Having recently completed the McKinsey Leadership Essentials program, she continues to build her business acumen and leadership capabilities. She also supports local community engagement through United Way of Brazoria County and remains committed to mentoring students and early career professionals.
Arjita holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware, a master’s degree from Cornell University, and a bachelor’s degree from BITS Pilani, India. Inspired by her parents’ backgrounds in chemistry and electrical engineering, as well as her own early interest in computer programming, she pursued doctoral research focused on applying computational tools to solve chemical engineering and material science challenges. During graduate school, she received the Robert L. Pigford Fellowship, the Richard Wool Award for Women in Green Engineering, and the University of Delaware Doctoral Fellowship.
Outside of work, Arjita enjoys Pilates, music, exploring Houston-area restaurants with her husband, and spending time with her golden retriever.
