Executive Director, Data Science and AI
GE Aerospace
Dinakar is the Executive Director responsible for GE Aerospace's Data Science and AI function. In his current role, he is one of the key leaders driving the company's transformation with AI — playing a pivotal role in deploying AI solutions that enhance employee productivity and enable value stream transformation across GE Aerospace's commercial and defense operations. He leads a 150+ member global organization across six countries — the United States, India, the United Kingdom, China, Singapore, and Mexico — translating cutting-edge AI capabilities into real-world business impact at scale.
In this capacity, Dinakar conceived and delivered AI Wingmate, GE Aerospace's enterprise generative AI platform, in partnership with Microsoft. Deployed to all 52,000 GE Aerospace employees within six weeks in 2024, AI Wingmate stands as a flagship example of his work in driving employee productivity and has played a key role in significantly advancing GE Aerospace's culture of AI adoption. Dinakar also played a key leadership role in GE Aerospace's development of the first-ever AI analytics solution accepted by an aviation regulatory agency as an alternate method of compliance, setting a new regulatory standard for the aerospace industry.
Prior to his current strategic leadership scope, Dinakar built GE Aerospace's Data Science practice from the ground up. Starting with a single-digit team in 2013, he grew the function into a global organization and made Cincinnati GE Aerospace's largest concentration of AI talent. His team's machine learning-based engine health monitoring has achieved a 60% improvement in lead time, a 45% increase in detection coverage, and a 50%+ reduction in false alarms. His work on digital twin technology for predictive maintenance has driven a 56% decrease in disruptions for major airline operators.
Earlier in his career, Dinakar spent a decade as a mechanical design engineer at GE Aerospace, working across various jet engine components. Armed with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras, this deep hands-on engineering foundation gives him a uniquely rare expertise combining deep engineering domain understanding with modern AI capabilities that is uncommon in the industry.
Throughout his career, Dinakar has been an active contributor to the broader AI and aerospace community. Within GE Aerospace, he has been honored three times with the CEO Innovation Award — in 2011, 2016, and 2025 — recognizing the sustained impact of his work across more than two decades of technology leadership. He has also served as a reverse mentor to C-suite leaders at GE Aerospace on data science and AI applications, and is an active speaker at leading industry and analytics conferences. He has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Influential Data and AI Leaders in the USA by AIM Research and among the top Data and AI leaders in Ohio by CDO Magazine.
